With vacation properties in Bethany Beach, DE and Naples, FL, the Bowman family learned first-hand how essential professional Home Watch services are to owners of unoccupied residences. During one offseason in Delaware, a burst pipe caused over $20,000 in damage while destroying treasured family memorabilia. Years later in Florida, a mold bloom nearly ruined an entire main floor, forever instilling a fear that the problem may return and cause continued health concerns. Having experienced both devastating incidents and supported lengthy repair and remediation processes, Bryan Bowman created Mid-Atlantic Home Watch. He strives to ensure these painful lessons learned may be shared with others so that they may avoid such events and loss.
During a hot Mid-Atlantic summer in 1988, the Bowman family moved their beloved, great “Aunt Mary” Kerrigan from Ocean City, NJ to Annapolis, MD so she could grow older in the comfort of her second home rather than transitioning to an Assisted Living community. Aunt Mary took tremendous pride in her independence. Even in her single-level condominium without stairs to navigate, however, Aunt Mary faced new challenges with each passing year. With help from a compassionate Occupational Therapist who assessed Mary’s abilities and surroundings and some wonderful contractors who modified Mary’s kitchen, bathroom, and living areas, we saw her thrive in Annapolis – comfortably, safely, and surrounded by family – well into her 90’s. Bryan Bowman built his Aging in Place services upon this personal foundation with an ultimate goal to help others achieve their dreams to grow older at home while saving money in the process.
Born and raised within the Baltimore and DC beltways, Bryan and his family settled in Anne Arundel County in 1979. He attended Broadneck High School before graduating from Georgetown University with honors. Bryan worked for Carl Zeiss, Inc., a global leader in optics and opto-electronics, for nearly 30 years holding leadership positions in Sales, Service, and Training Departments. Bryan’s performance in the corporate world was defined by the success of his clients. In early 2024, he left to pursue a life-long goal of establishing and operating an independent business.
As the owner and operator of Mid-Atlantic Home Watch, Bryan is a graduate of the Home Watch Academy, accredited by the National Home Watch Association, and designated as a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) by the National Association of Home Builders. He is insured, bonded, background checked, and brings a highly technical, professional, and personal approach to caring for you, your family, and your residence.
Bryan lives in Arnold, MD with his wife, Michelle, and two sons, Gregg and Devin, now both in college. He is a member of the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary’s congregation in Annapolis, MD, volunteers locally, and loves to travel, golf, and fish in his rare time off.
